Amateur radio operators from Florida aid the Katrina relief effort

Shortly after hurricane Katrina made landfall near Waveland, Mississippi in August, 2005, Chantal and I joined with the Florida State Emergency Response Team (S.E.R.T) to provide Ham radio communications to the relief effort.

We were stationed just east of Stennis airport, between Waveland and Kiln, MS on the campus of Hancock County schools where we camped in our tent with many other civilian and military responders. Each morning we drove north on MS Hwy 603 to a Point of Distribution (POD) at American Legion Post 58 and helped relay emergency traffic and requests for supplies.

The photographs in this photo gallery were taken with our two digital cameras with a maximum resolution of 5MP so the resolution is not the best.
