The Saint Marks National Wildlife Refuge was not in the direct path of Hurricane Michael but it did suffer quite a bit of damage.
Fortunately the recently restored lighthouse and keepers quarters were spared the worst of the damage. The stairways and accessible ramp were damaged and will need repair.
Visitors to the refuge can observe the signs of damage along Lighthouse Road and around the lighthouse but much of the damage is not visible unless you walk the levee trails.
Below is a gallery of images of the storm damage I recorded during my travels around the refuge. The gallery is a work in progress and I will add more images in the near future.
